Citizen Printing House began as Enterprise Printing Shop back in 1896. Located in the basement of the current K of C building, the small printing shop provided quality services to the community.
Eventually, the office moved to
99 West Main Street to become the home of the
Allegany Citizen newspaper.
After a brief stint at 1 E Main Street, the newspaper moved back to its current location at 99 West Main Street. Business was booming, and a larger space was needed to accommodate customers’ needs
and best serve the Olean, NY and Bradford, PA areas.
It was at that time that the Mutsclechner family (father Joe, sons Joseph and Allie) ran the business. Following Allie’s retirement, J. Mark Moyer (grandson of the founder) purchased the business. The newspaper issued its final copy in 1976 and so the name was changed to
Citizen Printing House.
Dennis Burton purchased the building in 1989 for his engineering consulting firm, and decided to keep the print shop operating. Numerous renovations were made, and most of the
original equipment was replaced with more modern technology.
Dennis had a keen interest in "the newest thing," especially if it involved engines, media, or communications. He was the first person in Allegany to have a Fax machine. Legend has it that a reporter for a national network was in town and went to the Post Office to send a fax. He was told that they didn't have one, but if anyone in town did, it was Dennis. Needless to say, the reporter's fax went off without a problem.
Today, the print shop is owned by Dennis's daughter, Lynda Burton Dunn, who is assisted by printer Edgar Monroe and technician Paul Zielinski. The team works together to continuously provide exceptional products, great prices and quality custom printing to businesses and individuals.
As technology has advanced, Citizen Printing House has learned and grown to embrace new and improved services. From letterheads and envelopes to business cards and carbon-less forms, scanning to pdf and printing engineering copies (blueprints), we have the experience and technology to handle your every need. Although we’ve developed a reputation for the most affordable printing in the area, we have also broadened our capabilities by adding custom matting and framing for your photos and other 2-dimensional treasures.
